Wildlife and nature photography requires a very unique and diverse skill set of the photographer who wants to create striking and memorable images. Unpredictable subjects, fast changing light and scenes and a dazzling array of creative choices all means that, as a photographer, you have to have a good understanding of both the technical and creative aspects of our craft in order to create a solid portfolio of images.
Urban photography is also a unique genre of our craft which focuses on and visually brings together urban spaces, the people who live there and the creative vision of the photographer.
During this two-day workshop specialist photographic expedition and tour leader Gerry van der Walt, will change the way you look at your own urban photography by blending together various techniques and creative approaches from the world of wildlife and nature photography with real-world photography in and around the city.
After a theory presentation in the morning during which Gerry will share example images, creative approaches and give you some tools, ideas and inspiration, we will head to downtown Chicago with our cameras for an afternoon of urban street photography. The next morning we start with another practical shooting session which will be followed by an interactive post-processing lecture during which Gerry will share various tips, tricks and ideas you can use to get the most out of your RAW files from the workshop.
This fun, interactive workshop will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a top to bottom photographic process while giving you new ideas and inspiration to take home and use as a part of your own photographic journey.
