DESCRIPTION

Building on the foundational skills from its predecessor Intro to Film, the second class dives deeper into the creative possibilities of film photography. Students will refine their artistic vision by exploring the interplay of film stocks, core techniques, style, and genres to craft compelling photographs. Through hands-on practice and experimentation, students will develop a nuanced understanding of how to make deliberate aesthetic choices that enhance their storytelling and visual expression.

Course Highlights:

– In-depth exploration of various film photography genres
– Advanced techniques for harnessing shutter speed and aperture to achieve desired effects
– Developing a personal artistic style through intentional choices

– Q&A with a photographer, portrait studio demo, and guided camera walk-throughs

– Critique and feedback sessions to refine students’ work

Required: You’ll need a tripod for this class + a solid familiarity of manual mode shooting. Preferably, students will feel confident with the overall functions of their camera. Either a 35mm or 50mm lens is recommended.
