Photographing Hidden Chicago with Blake Rudis, Jim Welninski and Nick Sinnott
“Have you ever walked by a building and thought, “I wish I could see what’s inside?” Now you can. Tour soaring skyscrapers, repurposed mansions, opulent theaters, exclusive private clubs, private offices and breathtaking sacred spaces.” – Chicago Architecture Foundation
So much of the greatness of Chicago is hidden away, reserved for the select few. The most spectacular views, the grandest architecture and most breathtaking spaces, the most beautiful and soul stirring art. One weekend every year, the Chicago Architecture Foundation partners with the owners of these places to make some of them available for public viewing. What better way to experience and photograph them than alongside master photography educator and ON1 Guru Blake Rudis, international award-winning photographer and ON1 Guru Jim Welninski, and RS Chicago Photography Classes owner Nick Sinnott?
In this workshop, you’ll spend two fully packed days learning how the pros photograph these places. These aren’t spots you can go back to if you don’t get it right. So go with professionals and get it right! There will be plenty of tips on composition and camera settings to ensure that your photos are great. In addition to the architecture, we’ll be shooting at sunrise and also in the city at night. You can attend any of the sessions.
Part of the last day is dedicated to processing and printing your photographs. This is an opportunity for you to see how award-winning photos are made! The process starts long before you sit down in front of Photoshop. But you’ll have seen the entire process so by this time, the processing decisions will make complete sense. You’ll see how decisions made during the shoot inform the post processing. And you’ll also see how knowledge of post processing options informs shooting decisions. With that understanding, you can create a workflow that is truly yours. One that makes sense for you and whatever style or subject you pursue.
