Food Photography – Wednesday 1-4pm

Level: Intermediate Photographer (completed Photo I & Photo II)

Class Length : 6 weeks
Class option : In Person
Class duration (Lecture and Hands-on): 3 Hours
Requirements : Must know how to use camera in Manual mode. Eligibility can be assessed with instructor.

Additional Charges: There will be an additional fee between all of the participants for food purchase (estimate $50 per person per 6-weeks)

Turn your passion for food into stunning, professional-quality photographs. This 6-week intermediate course is designed for photographers who want to refine their technical skills, master the art of styling, and build a polished portfolio that can stand out in today’s competitive market.

Through a blend of in-depth lectures and practical, hands-on exercises, you’ll learn how to control light, craft mood, and capture both the elegance of fine dining and the energy of food in motion. From simple dishes to styled spreads, you’ll practice industry-standard techniques that bring flavors and textures to life.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will gain a:
• Solid foundation in camera settings, lenses and composition specific to food.
• Mastery of lighting setups-from natural light to studio control.
• Skills in food styling, prop selection, and storytelling through imagery.
• Techniques for capturing texture, detail and mood.
• Guidance on building commercial portfolio.

The class will be 6 weeks long with five weekly group sessions and one individual session. The first five weeks will include a lecture on weekly concepts, a demonstration or hands-on exercise, and critique of homework assignments. The last week will consist of a 1:1 session tailored to each student. Based on discussions during the class, the 1:1 session could focus on a personal project, mentorship on the business side of food or product photography, marketing guidance, real-life scenarios, or specific technical questions.
