If you’re interested in learning the basics of film photography, Intro To Film Photography is the perfect option for you. It’s a unique 8-week course that begins with teaching the fundamentals of film cameras and gradually progresses to being confident in capturing images just as you’d like. Although it may seem challenging at first, Vanessa Valadez makes it easy for anyone with her vast knowledge and expertise. Vanessa has 20 years of experience working with both film and digital photography, and she combines her enthusiasm for travel, culture, and music throughout her teachings. You’ll learn about Aperture, Shutter Speed, and Film Speed and how they work together to give you the best photos possible. With Intro To Film Photography you can start capturing amazing photographs with confidence.
You will need:
- Interchangeable Lens Film Camera (please contact us if you would like assistance)
- Color Film (will discuss during the first class)
We have a source for you to be able to develop the negatives of the assignments. Â We will teach you how to scan your negatives into a digital file that can be edited.

Wonderful Instructor Vanessa for the Intro to Film Photography
It’s rare that you get an instructor who genuinely wants you to ask questions, and listens astutely when a student is inquiring. I can image what may be an otherwise tedious introduction into photography, Vanessa made the class interesting and all types of learners were able to pay attention. The courses were well thought out and structured, the assignments were challenging and helped us look at all facets of shooting, that we may have otherwise not practiced. I think we all learned so much more than we could have if we just followed YouTube searches or TikTok tutorials. With analog, it did seem truly beneficial to discuss with peers and have a knowledgable (and patient) teacher. Will be looking forward to Film Photography II with Vanessa!
