Monochrome I focused on seeing and working in black and white. Monochrome II takes the next step, emphasizing advanced editing, printing, and consistency across images. Students will learn how to make deliberate tonal decisions, including warm and cool toning, and how to organize their photographs into a clear, cohesive series.
Jeffrey Gabriel Silva will guide you through the creative side of monochrome photography. Through thoughtfully designed shooting assignments and engaging discussions on influential photographers, Jeff will help you refine your personal style, strengthen composition, and understand how to tell compelling stories—without relying on color.
John Granata will lead the technical portion of the course. You’ll build on the essential Photoshop skills from Monochrome I and learn how to print a visual guide for reference. Through in class critiques we will discover how editing and paper choice can be used to convey style and intent.
