This energetic lecture is conducted every Sunday at our campus at 4001 N Ravenswood Ave. Chicago. It is also conducted Online and at The Art Center (TAC) in Highland Park, Illinois on select dates. The class is designed to introduce people to proper exposure using their cameras. You will learn basic camera operation: an overview of your camera controls, use of your camera’s exposure meter, and a discussion about which lens is the best value.
No camera? No worries! We have cameras to loan for this class. If you are thinking of purchasing a DSLR or Mirrorless Camera, we will help you to understand what to look for so you can make an informed decision.
If you have a new Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) or Mirrorless camera, need a refresher or have never attended a photography class, you should attend this workshop. Or if you are thinking of purchasing a DSLR, Mirrorless or Film (SLR) camera, we will help you to understand what is important and what’s not important in cameras with interchangeable lenses. You will learn basic camera operation: an overview of your camera controls, use of your camera’s exposure meter, and a discussion about which lens is the best value. No worries if you have a film camera because those cameras are covered too. Be sure to bring a camera, as well as your camera manual if you have one.

Great information…..like a leading line, Nick drew us in! The class was thorough, inviting, and interesting, and it was just the spark I needed to jump back into photography. I’ve already signed up for photo 1!

I no longer have to use Auto because my camera dial is the wheel of confusion. I am really excited to take Photo I and beyond. The instructor, Nick was awesome and patient. He made me feel like I could conquer my DSLR and take magical pictures in 90 minutes. A fun, interactive environment and learning experience overall.
