DESCRIPTION
Join Kambua Chema as she leads you through how to create a technical portrait portfolio by a hands-on experience. You’ll explore ten (10) different concepts of portraiture along with learning lighting and model guidance.
- Four – 3 hour, in-person studio sessions.
- Small Groups – only 3 to 4 participants.
- Hands-on setup, directing and photographing
Session #1: Natural key light, environmental elements, and the use of a wide angle lens.
Session #2: Black & White Portraiture, movement and constant light.
Session #3: Dramatic Portraits with one light
Session #4: Mixed lighting and multiple exposures
Class Length: 4 Weeks
Class Option: In-Person
Class Duration: 2.5 – 3 hours per week

Kambua Chema
I am a Chicago based photographer, instructor with focus on headshots, portraits, and travel photography workshops. I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. My camera has provided a sense of solace and joy everytime I press the shutter. I picked up a film camera over 20 years ago and I have never looked back. Having lived my life in Kenya and then the States, I assimilated quickly, always being drawn to people then to photographing them. This has made work as a headshot, portrait, travel photographer very fulfilling and incredibly rewarding.
My strongest foundation in photography was built at Richard Stromberg's Photography Classes. As a student to an instructor, I have loved sharing my passion every chance I get. I honestly can't imagine my life without Photography. There are so many beautiful moments in life. Taking the time to really see the fabric behind the lens, is truly remarkable.
