DESCRIPTION

Black-and-white photography is a timeless art form that strips away the distractions of color, allowing the viewer to focus on the raw essence of the image—its textures, shapes, contrasts, and emotions. By emphasizing light and shadow, monochrome photography creates a mood that feels both intimate and dramatic. The absence of color encourages a deeper connection with the subject, offering a sense of timelessness and universality.

In this photo call, we invite submissions of monochrome images that showcase the power of black-and-white photography. Whether capturing stark urban landscapes, evocative portraits, or abstract forms, let your work explore the profound storytelling and artistry that only black-and-white photography can convey.

Juror: Jason Peterson

A master of black and white street photography. Jason has been honing his craft for over 30 years. 

Drawing inspiration from urban landscape and the human condition within it, Jason manages to capture moments that are sharp in clarity and alluring in contrast. Negative space is used effortlessly and the faceless subjects flow perfectly in each image.

Influenced by iconic photographers of the past, Jason creates smooth and powerful compositions that breed a dark and mysterious graphic fantasy. His work has appeared in galleries and publications around the world.

As a photographer , Jason has been tapped by some of the world’s leading brands (Adidas, Perrier, Dom Perignon, NHL, Chicago Bulls, Bloomingdales and Volvo), as well as,  musicians (ASAP Rocky, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, G Eazy,  Diplo and more) to shoot based on his signature black and white photos and 1M+ Instagram followers (@jasonmpetersofn).

As a creative director for more than 25 years, Jason has been igniting cultural conversations across all media, including digital, television, print, content and brand identity. Jason is responsible for creating campaigns for Kanye/Yeezy, NBA, Coca Cola, Dos Equis, White Claw, McDonald’s, StateFarm, Boost Mobile and many more. Jason has most recently launched The Times (wearethetimes.com) a new model culture content advertising agency located in Chicago.

Submission Deadline: February 12th

Show Opening:  Thursday, March 20th

  • Entry Fee: $25 for up to 3 images, $35 for 5 images (this fee will also cover the cost of printing and mounting for the selected images).
  • Once you pay the submission fee on the website, you will receive an email confirmation of your purchase that looks like this (please check your spam folder!!)

 

 

The instructions on how to submit your images are embedded in that email. Please check your spam folder as well, as sometimes emails might end up there.
