Ready to take portraiture to another level?  Traditional portraiture is fantastic at creating timeless keepsakes, but if you’re ready to challenge yourself and go to the next level of portraiture, this class is for you!  In this course, learn to unlock your creative potential, bringing your vision to life!  You’ll learn how to elevate your portraiture photography with this in-depth course on conceptual and creative portraiture, going from a spark of an idea to a finalized polished product. This immersive course is designed to help photographers develop the skills and confidence to produce striking, story-driven portraits.

Through a blend of lectures, hands-on practice, and targeted homework, you’ll explore the following topics:

  • Art History and Inspiration
  • Brainstorming and Concept Development
  • Mood Board Creation
  • Styling
  • Posing and Lighting
  • Studio Shooting
  • Final Editing in Lightroom and Photoshop

This class includes equal amounts of work with a camera in hand and sketching, brainstorming, and concepting without the camera!

Don’t worry if you don’t feel you are “creative” enough!  Creativity is a skill, not a talent, and anyone can develop it by embracing curiosity, exploring new perspectives, and practicing regularly. Class Option: In-Person
Lecture / Hands-On Studio Time: About 2.5 Hours per week
Prerequisites: Intro To Portraiture / Lighting 101 (or equivalent). Must be comfortable working in the studio with strobes and triggers.
